In my dreams, I fantasize and reminisce upon a time in which I could dress up in a gorgeous gown of my choice alongside a pair of high heels for an extravagant party. I miss the amusement of diving into Jal in a pretty pink polka dot bikini. When exploring the winter wonderland of Nottis, a warm winter jacket with a fluffy pair of snow boots is key to keep from the cold. However, aside from what may be necessary attire in a given moment, there are other factors to consider in the game of dress up. Perhaps one may have the fashionable urge to develop a personal and unique style. In a similar way, I yearn for the freedom to experiment with different hairstyles and accessories. If somebody asked me what one of my biggest wishes was, I would doubtlessly say the ability to play dress up once again.

On a serious note, I really do miss the character customization features in Glitch. This game along its community is truly so unique and amazing, I consider it honorable to have been able to play the original game and be a part of Eleven Giants. Although less players log on to the game and forums nowadays, the shared love of the community for this hidden gem still does exist. So, since the beloved world of Ur has been a little lonely as of lately, let's start a discussion about this. What were your favorite accessories, clothes, and other character customization features? What made them so memorable to you? I'd be so happy to hear back from some fellow Glitchen !

I am probably the minority, but I actually really liked the old housing system. Sure, they didn't have the variety of choices that the new housing system offered, but there are many reasons why the old housing system to this day is still my favorite, and I'm sure others can agree. For instance, I absolutely LOVED the idea of having communities of glitchen spread out through various regions of Ur.
I remember my large house in Kajuu, where usually most of the Glitchen in the whole region were pretty local. Sometimes there would be neighborhood parties and guests of the community would all bring food and drinks to where the party was being hosted. In addition, it was more convenient to choose which region you wanted to live in and what kind of house was meant for your style. There was actually quite a variety of houses you could purchase around Ur. For example: beehives, cave homes, mansions/large houses, firebog homes, apartment complexes, standard houses that came in different colors and styles, etc.
I really miss having this feature in the game and I hope that it could possibly come back in Eleven Giants :).

The old idea? Trash Mountain: http://www.glitchthegame.com/forum/ideas/368/

And the weird, impractical one: Flyover. You could embark in one of a few ports on some sort of aerial craft- a balloon, a pedal-powered autogyro, a ship with a blimp instead of sails pulled by blue-footed boobies- and set a destination or a set of waypoints. Then the fun but impractical part- you would fly over a globe-projected version of Ur, not so detailed that you can see how many barnacles there are, more like the map laid out over the topographical part of the map from a different angle. You'd have to be able to go slowly enough for it to be scenic, otherwise you might as well just teleport. You could maybe pull a banner or emit smoke in a message behind the craft, and as you pass over parts of the map, you could be visible on the streets you're passing. Maybe there could be a chat channel devoted to people communicating with whoever is in the craft. You could use the banner/skywriting/bird-flocks/whatever to advertise your shop, announce parties and contests, and tell people Happy Birthday. I realize that just letting anybody fly over anything with whatever they want trailing behind them might not be the best idea, so there might have to be a vetting process (a General Permit to the right office with the message and a 24-hour lead time?). I realize too that the task of drawing and animating the flyover process (basically the whole map from multiple angles near the surface) would be a gargantuan task... but it would look really cool.

If you could be the sole designer of a region in Ur, what would be your theme/aesthetic and what would you be able to do there?

I would design an off-color mountainous region that's in shades of yellow and yellowy brown more reminiscent of sandstone than any mountainous regions that currently exist. It'd bear a lot of similarities to Groddle Heights except for the color changes. And in the area of this region where the peak is located, there are darker yellow honey veins that run through the rocks of the peak that can be mined with a pickaxe.

The gold of Ur they call it.

Initially honey mining would be half as effective, in terms of yield, as traditional mining and there would be a skill Rock Candier, like jellisac hands but requiring mining II, that allows you to double the amount of honey you get while mining. Yield of honey mining after relevant skills are learned and upgrades are bough would be identical to chunks of dullite as they have the same value of four currants. In other respects honey mining would behave much like regular mining. It takes the time that mining beryl or sparkly would at that mining level and drops sapphires, rubies, moonstones, and diamonds as mining does. (Perhaps it would also have a very rare chance to drop an unnamed rare gem that only honey veins produce that is worth 5000c. Perhaps topaz or citrine or even simply gold ore.)

Hello Glitchery! I'm a diehard Glitch fan, can't wait for it to be available again. I'm also a video game designer, credited on AAA games. I'd like to help.

I was thinking about how Glitch didn't make enough money to pay for everything last time, and I think this can be corrected in a way that won't drive us diehard fans crazy. The key will be "speeding it up." If you've ever played Elvenar, you'll know that they have diamonds, you buy them with real cash, and then you can use them to get special decorations for your village to add Culture points, OR to speed up things instead of waiting, such as building upgrades, etc.

I think that's a key. Speed it up. The trick is to make sure it won't ruin the timed mini-missions, because strategy first; but combined with donations for the servers and maintenance crew, kickstarter and other social avenues, this game can not only come back to life, but can make enough money to stay that way!!

I can write you a spec detailing the assets to control with speed options if you like.

It would be really nice if there were an option to clear the street-visited memory for a given region on the map so that you could once again see each street marked as you visited it. I would imagine (naively, perhaps) that this would be a relatively simple feature to add to the game, as it would not involve creating much of anything new - perhaps a "clear memory" button in the region map that became activated after achieving the completionist badge. If there is a list of new features to someday add, perhaps this could be put on the list.

All of the stations are clustered together in adjoining (or nearly adjoining) Locations to facilitate ease of getting around for Glitchen who had not yet achieved full teleportation skills. But now with the much expanded world those locations with subway service are in one part of the world with a significantly larger part totally unserved. It would be really nice if eventually the system could be expanded to give access, not necessarily to every location, but to a nice spread of locations throughout the world. It gets discouraging for a not-yet-fully-teleporting glitchen to have to trundle over great distances to get to the further parts of the world.

As things are now, or at least, as things were, given that Eleven is still under construction, whenever new items were added to the game, they came either with feats, or were simply unceremoniously added to the game. However, what if the playerbase had some level of interactivity in allowing these things to be implemented?

This is where the Thought Experiment comes in.

Step 1: Get equipped!
Thought Experiments are science, but they are the science of metamentality and the vast expanse of the unideciscape. Such widely-encompassed science can be hard to keep track of! You're going to need a Scientific Notebook to keep your experiments together! You can buy one from a Hardware or Alchemical Goods vendor.

The Scientific Notebook is used to conduct and record Thought Experiments, and it has a very special quality: while it comes with only 20 pages, you can add more to it at any time if you have some paper on you, up to a maximum of 101.

Step 2: Do some science!
Okay, so you have the Scientific Notebook. Cool. But how do you use it? And for that matter, what is it?

First, find it in your inventory, and give it a click, then press Scientificize! to open the Thought Experiment interface in your notebook. Every page represents one Thought Experiment. In this interface, you will find two major categories: the tool category and the ingredients category.

For the Thought Experiment, you're going to imagine using the tool to create a recipe you don't know, costing you iMG instead of Energy. You must know how to use the tool, because if you know how to use it, then you can properly imaginate it! You can also do Thought Experiments together with other people and split the costs and share expertise in things like Intermediate Admixing, Cheffery, and other assorted item creation skills.

Your goal in a Thought Experiment is simple: There are a number of unfinished, conceptual items hidden within the unseen mentalities of the Giants. (Or, from a technical standpoint, there are items that exist only on a data level, without images or descriptions.)

As an example, let's say you set the Tool category to Cocktail Shaker, and for Ingredients, you set 2 Lemons, an Olive Oil, 4 Cloudberries, a Pocket Salmon, and a Spinach. When you initiate the Thought Experiment, you spend iMG to consider what would happen if you shake these things together, trying to uncover a hidden idea in the muddled thoughts of the Giants.

Now, success comes on a scale. If your recipe is, say, 50% right, your result will be an Incoherent Concept. An Incoherent Concept communicates nothing of the item it's supposed to represent; it simply means you're on the right track. It's time to switch out some ingredients, figure out which ones are right, and inch closer to the right concept. Any Incoherent Concept will simply be named "Incoherent Concept"; it will not say what it is a concept of.

Once you get closer, such as, for example, 70% correct, your result becomes a Hazy Concept. A Hazy Concept will yield its name to you, but have "Hazy" before it, to denote that it still hasn't been perfected. In this case, you may get, say, a Hazy Concept of Flying Fish Margarita. The name now becomes your hint as to what direction you should take the recipe.

At even closer levels, in the range of 85%, your result is a Deformed Concept. A Deformed Concept acts just like a Hazy Concept, but now it starts to become clear whether things are missing, or things need to be removed, or if there's too many or too little of a particular thing, but not exactly what. For example, the discovery of your Deformed Concept of Flying Fish Margarita may state that you have an unneeded ingredient, or are missing an ingredient, or that there are too many or too few of a certain kind.

Finally, you can ultimately, through repeated experiments, figure out exactly what the concept's recipe is, forming a Concept. The Concept represents your success; the recipe you put in is perfect. You got it right. But it's not yet real; that's where the next step comes in.

(Conceptual items do not have their own images; they use images for an Incoherent Concept, Hazy Concept, Deformed Concept, and Concept, respectively. This means these items can be put in without art assets, with said art assets being created when they're discovered and formed!)

Step 3: Make it real.
Now that the Concept has formed, it's time to bring it out to the world, because you can't make it exist alone! You have to Ascend the Concept. To do this, you need to share it! Make people aware of it! Make forum posts, talk in global chat, whatever.

Ascending a Concept is much like how Street Construction used to work, and how Tower and House construction works now. You need to gather other Glitchen and Present the Concept. (This works somewhat like pulling a Glitchmas cracker, but it's open to everyone!) With the Concept presented, other Glitchen can put items into it, which usually consist of all of the ingredients of the item in large amounts, along with a few of the tools used to make it. In addition, there is also a hefty iMG quota that needs to be filled that Glitchen can also contribute to.

Alternatively, other Glitchen can create the Concept for themselves, with their own Thought Experiment. If two identical Concepts exist, they use the same pool of ingredients and iMG; they can both be donated to to develop the concept. Spread the Concepts around! The more people that know about them, the more that can be contributed!

Step 4: Inspire the Giants.
When the Concept is developed, it becomes an Inspiration. The final step associated with an Inspiration is simple; you drop it into a shrine. Any shrine will do. This Inspiration will travel to the Giant and trigger a great big "Aha!" and so, soon enough, the item corresponding to the Inspiration will pop into existence in Ur. In the example of our Flying Fish Margarita, you can expect it as a new recipe for your Cocktail Shaker.

And that's all there is to that!

So right now we have four gemstones. Pleasing Ambers, Showy Sapphires, Moderately Sized Rubies, and Walloping Big Diamonds. However, not only is this too low a number of gemstones, it is also not even a prime number! This is a problem that must be rectified! How can we show our respects to the Giants if we can't even prime number?

So I propose the addition of no less than thirteen gemstones to the lineup, bringing up the count to a nice, prime seventeen. One follows the pattern we know, while the rest are all based in a different way. Without further ado...

Pearlescent Pearl
It's a pearl. It's pearlescent. Or perhaps opalescent, if you want. What more could you really ask for? Take a hop around the oceans of Jal and look for one, yeah?

Grendalarine
A light, oceanic gem of water and splashing and splooshing. Donating it to a shrine gets the most favor from Grendaline!

Tiipaz
Logical, crystalline, and beautifully cut. One of these three things does not belong.

Lemerald
For the gemstone collector on the go.

Cosmathyst
It gets pretty good air if you throw it just right.

Peripot
Unfortunately, it isn't rock candy. You're welcome to bite down on it anyway, though!

Humberyl
Unfortunately, it does not have legs. Fortunately, you do! Help it get to a shrine, won't you?

Alphandine
Cubic. A wonderful shape, like that of industry and machines.

Zillcon
Now, now, I know what you're thinking. But I assure you, Zille loves all rocks equally, even if some are named after her and others aren't.

Spraggate
This green rock is not a tree, nor does it grow on them.

Mab-Sit-Sit
It looks kind of like a marble. A mabble?

Friendaline
Dark as the night, the venue of the party.

Rooksidian
Pointy! Collector discretion advised.

Just a little idea! I thought it'd be funny if Quoins looked a little different depending on where they're found. For example, Quoins in Jal have little rudders at their bottom instead of hanging from propellers, and Quoins at Toxic Moon get little pressurized air thrusters that aren't particularly strong, as they don't need to do too much to overcome the moon's low gravity.

It would also be interesting to introduce Quoin variations with a bit of gameplay functionality, such as a few that are worth more than the ones throughout an area that drift through tied to a balloon or something.

This is a thread for half-formed, chaotic, incomplete and vague ideas. What are you thinking of? What kinds of things would you like to see? Haven't figured out the details? Don't quite know what it is you're figuring out, just what you want? Post it here!

Perhaps you have the idea that we should have a new skill focused around splanking, but you haven't determined the details. Okay, post that. Post everything you've figured out. It doesn't matter how incomplete it is—it's here to be built upon and made into a complete one.

To start out, here's a basic incomplete idea: I want to see sources for some of the resources only attainable from Vendors, such as coffee and beer.

I will also copy "finished" ideas to their relevant threads with a link back here to let people know that I did not create the idea—it was a work of the Idea Workshop. Assuming this whole thing works out, anyway.

All listed ideas are in a hypothetical state and should not be taken as an absolute finished product.

Expanded Oils
* Oily Dressing, Sesame Oil, and Olive Oil are now made from Oil.
* The Refining skill can be used to refine oils from Ur-Oil (the original oil!), which is itself refined in larger quantities from amber, middling quantities from Urth, decent quantities from peat, and small quantities from soil.
* Refined Oil Types include: Olive Oil, Sesame Oil and Essential Oil. Essential Oil is used in the creation of Oily Dressing.
* Oil can be further refined into things like Fuel Pellets.

Perfume
* Pretty bottles.
* Particle effects?

Basements and Passages
* Houses have basements, perhaps accessible only by secret passage.
* There are secret passages. (As said.)
* Glitchen can make tunnels between houses of friends.

Singing
* Encourages resource growth.
* Perhaps affiliated with Light Green Thumb, Mining, and Animal Husbandry?
* Might be redundant with petting and watering trants, but perhaps still good for other things.
* Chickens faint and cats puff up if your singing is awful.

Buddy Bugs
* Running around in Ur, most especially in Fox Preserves, causes you to accrue ticks!
* You can't pull them off yourself. Get a friend to help you.
* Perhaps you actually collect them when you remove them?
* How about some squicky tick-based recipes like Ticks-on-a-Stick and Tick Soup?

Special Deliveries
* Send a special package or letter with a dancing flower, a singing telegram, or a small legion of trumpeter frogs to read it out.
* You should also be able to send to strangers to make them feel included!
* Perhaps the option to send things to someone with not many friends and a recent join date at random?

Geocaches
* I didn't quite grasp this one, so my details might be off.
* An adventure! Follow maps, solve puzzles, and... You know. Adventure stuff.
* May hold treasures.

Rapping/Beatboxing
* Rapping or beatboxing as a possible skill.

Given that it resembles a "KRAFT" brand bottle, Perhaps it could be better made to oil the gears of some of the machines since Olive Oil would probably not be as good for that and it has multi-use in crafting, like feeding Craft-Bot?

I have a lot of thoughts about furniture! One thing is that I'd like to see other flipping options sometimes, rather than a R-L flip it could be flipped top to bottom (this makes sense for some items.)

Here are some new styles I would love to see in the future:

Rugs: more rugs, generally, in more colours and shapes. I would also like to see mossy and grassy carpets to coordinate with those floorings, and maybe even a starry night rug.

Room Decorations: I love these because they are one of the few things you can drag to the front of the room. I'd like to see some mossy and grassy humps/clumps and a tall mossy tree stump for those who are rocking the nature look. I'd also like to see a coat rack.

Table Decorations: I'd like to decorate a kitchen counter with stacks of dirty plates, or a table with a fresh place setting. I'd also like to see more elegant sculpture-y stuff in this category, including more stuff that's mostly black or white.

Hanging Decorations: I'd like a black version of the chandelier.

Wall Decorations: I'd like to be able to make a signpost into a wall plaque, possibly at the potential to lose the ability to modify the note afterward.

Lamps: I'd like a more elegant/upscale white table lamp. And a danish modern floor lamp! Lots more creative floor lamps in general, too, because they are the only other thing you can drag to the front. And more wall lamps too, since they are, along with wall decos, the only things you can stick to walls (without a shelf).

Shelves: What about a fully transparent shelf? That is grabbable in deco-mode only?

Chairs: I'd like more comfy armchair options in more colours. I'd like also stool upgrades that look like floor pillows (including a starry night throw pillow and mossy/grassy pillows as well as plain or patterned colours.) I'd also like an armchair that suits the nature theme as well as the bog theme.

And this isn't really furniture, but I'd really like new gnome styles.

I feel like it would be interesting if you could define a full name for your Glitch. Not for much purpose other than a little bit of flavor, and maybe people could view it. Done well, it could really add to the whimsy of our little world!

See, your Glitch's username and the full name you define don't even have to be the same. The username can be considered to be some sort of alias if it doesn't match the full name.

For example, my username is just Seeen. But I could define my full name in terms of title, first name, middle name, and last name. (Maybe this can tie in with the temple idea for titles?) But you don't have to define any names if you don't want to! You can even just define a title. It makes for more combinatorial creativity that way, I'd say.

Here's some examples, using names I've made up.

Username: Dr. Potato
Title: Dr.
First Name: Spudnick
Middle Name: Starch
Last Name: Potato
This one clearly has a last name that lines up with the username, in addition to giving a more detailed full name.

Username: Slothful Pianist
Title: [none]
First Name: Ima
Middle Name: Xavier
Last Name: Ampelle
This one has names that don't match the username, making the username more of an alias.

Username: Sir Orange Prance-a-Lot
Title: Sir
First Name: John
Middle Name: Spakti
Last Name: Egoopla
This is just another alias one to show that I'm not implying that aliases are limited to titles. They can look like names, too!

Username: Seforven
Title: [none]
First Name: Seforven
Middle Name: [none]
Last Name: [none]
Having only one name should be entirely possible, too!

Username: Ell E. V. Ein.
Title: Ms.
First Name: Ellen
Middle Name: Emmi Vulcan
Last Name: Einstein
There can probably also be multiple middle names, though I do recommend a character limit so it doesn't get too out of hand...

It's nothing more than a flavor feature, really. But it might be interesting for some purposes, like, for example, bureaucracy.
